Mary Anne Bandalo
Executive Director
Responsible for the overall management of MVYATA.
Mary Anne’s commitment to service in the Mon Valley communities extends back to when Mon Valley Youth and Teen was known as the Camp Fire Boys &Girls. She first volunteered as a Camp Fire Bluebird Group Leader when her daughter wanted to join and there was no leader for her group. Eventually both of her daughters would come to grow up through the Camp Fire program.
Throughout the Camp Fire years, Mary Anne held multiple board positions including president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. Her husband Bill would take on the responsibilities of maintenance and caretaker of the Forester’s Cabin and Camp Director for four years.
In 1992, she was hired on as Program Manager and then helped initiate and support transition efforts to what we know as the Mon Valley Youth and Teen Association, Inc. She has held her current position of Executive Director since 1995.
During her time at MVYATA, Mary Anne has ensured consistent care and programming for the community. 2024 will mark our beloved Camp Watakamini’s 30th year under the MVYATA banner. She has also uplifted monthly feeding programs and weekly after school programs, championed fundraising efforts, acquired grants and worked to secure our dedicated home base at 160 Thompson Avenue in Donora, PA.
Mary Anne devotes much of her time to “the Center” and its varying programs but in her downtime you might find her at biweekly Tai Chi class, volunteering at St. Andrew’s Church, playing bocce, spending time with her great granddaughter, or camping up the Laurel mountains at the family cabin named “Junior”.
