Camp Watakamini dates: June 22 - 28, 2025
For Kindergartners through High School Seniors
Established over 75 years ago, Camp Watakamini has been the host to thousands of children from the Mon Valley and beyond. Campers spend the week in the beautiful mountains of Laurel Hill State Park and Forbes State Forest.
Our volunteer staff’s goal is to help give your child a memorable outdoor experience while keeping them safe and entertained through fun, educational activities. We find it important now more than ever to keep children and teens engaged and learning from the natural wonders around them.

During Camp
Campers leave with lessons, memories, and friendships that will last a lifetime.
- Activities include hiking, fishing, visiting the beach, singing around the campfire, arts & crafts, talent shows, team pick-up games, scavenger hunts, and a dance.
- We provide three delicious meals each day and “Canteen” is available after dinner where campers can purchase snacks such as chips, candy bars, gummy treats, and sodas as well as MVYATA memorabilia.
- Campers are tasked with daily capers such as collecting firewood, sweeping common areas, setting tables, and patrolling the grounds for litter. This helps establish responsibility to self and others.
- They participate in daily Flag Ceremonies, exercises, and group songwriting. This teaches them how to work together as a team and allows them to take pride in their accomplishments.

I’ve been going to Camp Watakamini since I was 10 years old. Now at 19, I love volunteering my time because every year you can rekindle memories you never thought you would experience again.
